Turning the one-time seaside B & B into a Halloween haunted house for a local fundraiser seems like a good idea. After all, Eva and Marie’s ghosts are willing to help. However, the two spirit friends of Marlow House are not the only ghosts to stop by. Danielle and her friends are about to learn there might be something to that old legend that says on Halloween night the barrier between the living and dead becomes blurred, and the spirits of the dead visit earth. Maybe not all of earth—but at least Marlow House.
Rhyming text takes young readers for a look at the holiday custom of trick-or-treating--alphabetically.
Sending e-mails "You have News from Wandaland" to family and friends all across the states and to foreign countries is a hobby of Kodell Parker. He lives on a small cattle farm in north east Texas where cattle graze and coyotes sing at night. He often wrote about some amusing experience or happening. This became an interest after having retired from a major Oil Company in Alaska in the late '70s and settling down in Texas. Since there are days for no hay pitching, stalls to clean or fences to fix there was time for other satisfying and pleasurable activities to engage in. In the bunk house in the drawer of an old file cabinet which has seen its better days is a folder containing copies of many e-mails he has sent to a mail list over the past few years. He never kept any of the replies sent to him for reasons which have escaped his mind. Often, comments about a certain subject written about were received. It was not uncommon for someone to say "better layoff the juice" or "hide the jug in the barn." There was one who said that he was a "hoot" whatever that is. When the "mood "came upon him to tell folks hither and yonder how it is at Wandaland he just weighed in and commenced to write. His e-mails are styled as "News from Wandaland where the cows are always hungry and never give up their milk." More than once a person or two would say you should write a book about that. This is a collection of a few of his "News from Wandaland" just to show that he is not "loco," strange or a complete idiot as some people have commented. Perhaps you will say there is a wrangler "out there" sending e-mails all over the country and you should read one or two. The short stories are Reflection of rural life of the Parker family of fifteen siblings living in East Texas. The author penned the stories when he worked for a major oil company at Dead Horse, Alaska, in the 1970s when there were total dark days and "cabin fever" would set in. He truly hopes the e-mails and the short stories are pleasurable. Thank you for allowing them to be shared with you. Sincerely, Kodell Parker, head wrangler at Wandaland.

Searching for a human slave to take the place of his skeleton friend, Hob Goblin visits a town on Halloween.
The year is 1902. A young stock-handler named Fenton Pardee has just survived the train wreck that almost destroyed William F. Cody’s Wild West show. Surveying the train’s smoldering ruins—and what is left of Cody’s company of stunt-riders, trick-shooters, and stage actors—Fenton realizes that turning the West into a circus to thrill the world is no longer thrilling for him. Salvaging a saddle horse and three pack mules, he heads back into the West, seeking the reality of the Montana Rockies. Blue Heaven marks the return of Fenton Pardee, veteran guide and packer, who figured so memorably in High Country, Willard Wyman’s highly acclaimed first novel. Now Wyman moves back in time, filling in the story of the legendary packer. As he begins his westward journey, Fenton is not nearly as sure of where he is going as of what he wants to leave. Crossing the National Divide, he follows Indian trails and game trails, learning the lay of the land as he moves into a wilderness that comforts him as it draws him ever deeper into it. Stumbling into the camp of Tommy Yellowtail, a Flathead Indian as determined to remain in these mountains as Fenton is to embrace them, he finally finds his way. Together the two men discover that showing people what they want to preserve has its own way of keeping it alive. The tale of Fenton and Tommy—and of the women they love, one of whom is tragically taken from them—cuts through the romance of the West to offer an earthier reality, even as twentieth-century expansion and a looming world war threaten to take it all away.
